Prom Etiquette - Be On Time

Quinceanera is a time-honored celebration of young Hispanic women that takes place when a girl turns 15 and is welcomed into adulthood. The tradition began with the Aztec Indians, and today Quinceanera are celebrated throughout Hispanic communities the world over.

Mazel Tov! For young women of the Jewish faith, the Bat Mitzvah is a happy milestone. Young girls study hard for this coming-of-age ceremony. The event is grounded in Judeo tradition. For girls, Bat Mitzvah marks a young woman’s entry into adulthood; she officially becomes “daughter of the mitzvahs,” one who is obliged to observance of her faith. There is a religious ceremony followed by a party where family and friends share delicious food, dancing, and a lavish celebration of this age-old tradition.

Military families have been honoring those who serve with fancy military balls since the tradition started in 1895 after the Civil War. Attendees raise their glasses in toast to military leaders and pay tribute to those who have fallen in wars, served time as prisoners of war, and soldiers who are still missing in action (MIA).
